How a Dairy Free Diet Affects Your Teeth

There are all kinds of reasons why you might remove dairy products from your diet. One example might be that you have an intolerance or an allergy to dairy. Others may do it for their weight. Whatever the reason is, you should consider how a change in your diet could affect your teeth.

Various Dairy Products Can Affect Dental Health

How Will the Removal of Dairy Products Impact Your Oral Health?

Anytime you exclude a type of food from your diet, you might also be removing valuable nutrients.  There are two nutrients your smile needs, that dairy products provide: Calcium and Vitamin D. Calcium helps keep your teeth and bones strong.  Vitamin D plays a role in assisting your body in absorbing calcium from the food that you eat.

The good news is that other foods can provide Calcium and Vitamin D even if you do have a dairy-free diet.  For example, dark leafy vegetables are rich in Calcium and tuna can also provide you with Vitamin D. Sunlight is another great source of Vitamin D, and can be absorbed as you conduct outside activities.
